Open Destinations Further Expands into Asia with Diethelm Travel Group

Wednesday, October 08, 2014 9:02 AM
Open Destinations has been selected as the technology provider for one of the largest destination management companies in Asia.  Diethelm Travel Group (DTG) has signed a deal with the UK technology specialist, which involves the licensing of the company’s flagship software, Travel Studio, which will be implemented into all DTG offices throughout Asia.

DTG engaged in an exhaustive search worldwide for a flexible technology solution, which resulted in a final shortlist of candidates being flown to the Thailand office to pitch for the business.   ‘Technology expansion is the pillar of our growth strategy,’ says Maarten Groeneveld, Chief Operating Officer of Diethelm Travel Group.   ‘We looked for a system that not only has the flexibility to fit with our current organisation, but also the capacity to grow with us in the future.  Our partnership with Open Destinations will increase our efficiency and ensure that we keep up with the newest functionality that is required by our clients and users.’

Groeneveld confirms that the decision involved consideration of more than just the software.  ‘When going through this process, we decided that we needed a high level of expertise in travel technology to help us grow our business.  We continue to be impressed with the specialist knowledge and the attention to detail from the team at Open Destinations.’

The partnership also marks expansion for Open Destinations into South East Asia.  ‘We are delighted to be working with Diethelm and expanding our footprint in the region,’ says Kevin O’Sullivan, CEO of Open Destinations.  ‘Working with a large organisation such as Diethelm is a great validation of our products and proves that our business model works in many different countries.’

The implementation of Travel Studio is now underway, with the development of a business model that will be first used in the Thailand office of Diethelm, then replicated among all other offices in the network.  Completion of the project will result in an additional 400 users of Travel Studio, which currently hosts more than 10,000 users per day.
