NEWS – OPEN DESTINATIONS RECOGNISED AS A TOP GROWING SME TRADING WORLDWIDE

Travel software provider Open Destinations has been ranked 54th in the inaugural Sunday Times BT Business SME Export Track 100 league table.  Open Destinations is one of eight technology companies featured in the research report, which ranks the top 100 small and medium-sized companies (SME) with the fastest-growing overseas sales.  The list is compiled by Fast Track, which has previously listed travel technology firms such as Skyscanner in the Tech Track 100.

‘We are delighted to be recognised among the fast growing companies in the UK,’ says CEO Kevin O’Sullivan.  ‘After 15 years of being in business, this award reaffirms our belief that we have a platform is both scalable and sustainable in the international marketplace.  I think it also reinforces the message that the UK is a hub for travel technology.’

The selection process for the league table was based on research into each company’s size and their international customer base.  All companies listed had to achieve total sales of between £5m and £25m in the latest year, with international sales accounting for at least 20%.  Open Destinations saw a rise in international sales of over 53% in the past two years, which included the signing of new clients such as ETS in Turkey and Diethelm Travel Group in Southeast Asia.

One of the original technology firms in London’s Tech City, Open Destinations has seen significant growth in the past three years, with worldwide staff numbers growing by an average of 33% annually.  O’Sullivan expects that sales will continue to grow by an average of 20% over the next two years. ‘We are currently talking to a number of large international tour operators.  We believe that the continued enhancements of our browser based system and the launch of our new channel manager integrations will continue to support this growth.’
